Proclamation Called for Three Year Volunteers
The Southern Confederacy of Atlanta printed a portion of a proclamation from Georgia Governor Joseph E. Brown, calling on yet more volunteers for military service. This time the call was for men to volunteer for three years, most previous enlistments had been for six months - it was becoming apparent that the war would not be short as both sides had predicted early.
