Macon Newspaper Published Jefferson Davis Farewell Speech

The Atlanta City Council appointed five delegates to attend the convention of seceding states in Montgomery, AL on February 4. One of their instructions was to encourage the convention to select Atlanta as the capital of the Confederacy.

The Macon Weekly Telegraph published the farewell speech of Jefferson Davis to the U.S. Senate; Davis would soon be elected President of the Confederate States of America.
