Allen, Ivan, Jr.

Future Atlanta mayor Ivan Allen, Jr. was born in Atlanta on March 15, 1911, the only child of Ivan Allen Sr. and Irene Beaumont Allen. He served as mayor during most of the 1960s, some of the most turbulent times of the civil rights era. He died July 2, 2003, and is buried in Atlanta’s Westview Cemetery.
