Aaron, Tommy


Professional golfer Tommy Aaron was born in Gainesville, Georgia on February 22, 1937. He began playing golf by age twelve, and it quickly became apparent that the sport was his future. After a very successful amateur career, he joined the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) in 1961. He also had a very successful PGA career, highlighted by his winning the Master’s Tournament in 1973. He was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 1989. Aaron is now retired from professional golf.
