Civil War Soldier Wished to be Home for Christmas
A Georgia soldier in Virginia wrote home to his wife, telling her how much he wished he could be home for the holidays.
“…You will not receive this before Christmas holidays. I would be glad if I could be with you all. How sad it is to compare our as well as the situation of the country last Christmas and now. … You must write often and tell me evrything. I know that I can not give you the same pleasure in writing that you do me. Kiss our dear boy for me. …”
