Letter from Fredericksburg Mentioned Threat of Snow and Battle

A Georgia soldier wrote home to his mother from Fredericksburg.

“…The weather still threatens snow. …I see no more prospect of a fight today. Both sides seem to be calm but we know not what hour they may begin. …My cough troubles me so I can hardly write. I fear it will seat itself in me but dont be uneasy about me. I will try and take care of myself. Tell E.M to bring me a dram and some pretty girls respects when he comes! Bring the dram anyhow if he cant bring nothing else! …”
