Civil War Soldier in Band Practiced and Ate
A Georgia soldier stationed in North Carolina was part of a soldiers’ band; on this day they practiced and got some special food, as he recorded in his diary.
“To-day (30th) we practiced some of our new pieces: but don’t make much progress since the departure of Mr. Gorham for Ga. After our practice we drew the provisions we failed to draw several days ago. Among the articles drawn were a quantity of provisions sent us by the ladies of N. Ca.”
