Salzburgers Experienced Thunderstorms

Johann Martin Boltzius was the religious leader of the Salzburgers who emigrated to Georgia in 1734; he kept a journal of their settlement. On this day he recorded something common to Georgia, but new to many colonists - a thunderstorm:

“…Towards the Evening, it Thunder’d, with hard Rain, which about ten o’Clock grew very vehement, and continued a long time. We and the Saltzburgers were very much incommoded by the Rain, that pierced thro’ the Hut; however it did none of us any Harm”
