Journal Entry on Breaking Mules
Apparently, mules were just as stubborn in the early 19th century as they are today, as Reuben King noted in his journal:
“…I undertook to brake 2 Mules for Henery Harford They were both young and very obstinate I had some Dificulty in catching them but at length got them tied - Accidintaly in the business I hurt my hand in So bad a manner that I was Not able to labour untill the 8th Day of March”
