Tybee Island Report
The Richmond Times Dispatch reprinted (from a Savannah newspaper) a brief report of Union troops landing on Tybee Island, Georgia.
From Tybee Island. The Savannah News, November 26th, says: As we anticipated, the Federals made landing on Tybee Island on Sunday afternoon. From a gentleman who came up to the city last evening we learn that about five hundred Yankees are encamped on the each. Three vessels are inside, anchored in Tybee Roads and one is in sight off the bar. We understand that our pickets, before retreating on Sunday, set fire to several house on the Island. Our city is very quiet and unconcerned, notwithstanding the very close proximity of the invaders, who, of course, will loss no time in making secure their bloodless conquest.
