Editorial Urged Southerners to be Proud, but to Resume Oligations as U.S. Citizens
The Weekly Intelligencer of Atlanta printed an editorial insisting that Southerners should not feel humiliated by their defeat at the hands of a country with vastly superior resources, but instead should be proud of their valiant effort to establish independence. But at the same time they must now accept the defeat and resume their obligations as United States citizens.
