Harper’s Weekly Featured Mississippi Delegation
Harper’s Weekly published a picture of and biographies of the congressional delegation from Mississippi - which included soon to be Confederate President Jefferson Davis and representative Lucius Q.C. Lamar - who had been born and educated in Georgia before moving to Mississippi. Lamar would utimately serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. He is pictured on the lower left, with Davis being in the upper center. A similar edition had been published featuring Georgia’s congressional delegation on January 5, 1861.
