Walter F. George Lake
Walter F. George Lake extends 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Georgia/Alabama border, primarily in Clay County and Fort Gaines. It is formed by the Walter F. George Lock and Dam, and opened in 1963 after six years of construction. It contains 45,180 acres of water and 650 miles of shoreline.
