TURNOUT On Nov. 28, 1864, Jackson's
division, 20th Corps (Williams), of Gen. Sherman's army, destroyed the railroad
from Davisboro, No. 12, CRR, to Spier's Turnout (Bartow), No. 11, CRR, while Geary's
division and the First Michigan Engineers were destroying the railway facilities
at Davisboro and five miles of track west of that point. That night, Hq. 20th
Corps was established in Bartow. Next
day, the two infantry divisions and the Michigan engineers destroyed the track
and all railway facilities from this point to the Ogeechee River, then turned
north toward Louisville to rejoin the Left Wing. 081-13
