Edward Telfair

1735 -1807

Career: active participant in the Revolutionary movement as a member of the Council of Safety; delegate to the Continental Congress on four separate occasions; signed the Articles of Confederation; after independence served three terms as governor of Georgia.. Telfair County created and named in his honor in 1807.
