Daniel Stewart

1761 -1829

Career: fought in the Revolutionary War; rose to rank of brigadier general in the Georgia militia and led his men in the War of 1812; served in the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate; grandfather of Theodore Roosevelt. Stewart County created and named in his honor in 1830.
