Old Murray County Courthouse -- Early 1900s

 

Before Chatsworth was designated county seat in 1913, the Murray County courthouse was located in Spring Place, Ga. This postcard bears a June 5, 1909 postmark from Spring Place. The address side of the postcard has a space for a personal message (which was prohibited by federal law until March 1907). This suggests that the photo above probably was taken between 1907 and 1909.
