Abraham Baldwin Souvenir First Day Covers

On Jan. 25, 1985, the U.S. Postal Service issued a 7-cent postage stamp honoring educator and politician Abraham Baldwin.ceremonies on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens. The Postal Service had special booths set up to sell and cancel the stamp with a first day of issue postmark. A variety of envelopes (known to philatelists as "covers") were available for sale to create souvenir first day covers.
